When you join our teacher training, you’ll take party in an EDI and Positive Mental Health Conference.
This is followed up with discrete Positive Mental Health sessions and access to a Mental Health First Aider as part of our ongoing commitment to support you.
We have many levels of easily and quickly accessed support in place to enable you to succeed.
Your tutor provides both pastoral and academic support throughout the year. Our tutor team has vast experience in supporting trainees through the different challenges they may face, both personal and academic.
In each school you will be assigned a Learning Coach (Primary) or ITT coordinator (Secondary) – this person will meet with you weekly to review your progress and development priorities.
You will work in partnership with a class teacher on each placement, providing a balance of nurture and challenge to enable you to grow at your own pace.
Through our university partnership, trainees have full access to student services, including study support and counselling. Academic support is provided by university tutors.
We work with a number of past trainees to support our current cohorts. They understand the highs and challenges of teacher training and can offer advice and support from their own experiences.
One of the most important layers of support will be found among your fellow trainees. We help to develop this early on by holding events before the training year begins, and a residential early in the year.
Trainees benefit from high levels of support from staff at the centre and also when on placement in schools to help ensure their success. They strongly value the ethos of ‘people first, trainees second’. One trainee captured the sentiments of many by saying, ‘The provider has given me the opportunity to grow and become the best teacher I can be. High-quality lessons, well-being support and approachable leaders have all played a vital role in this.’
